The Elephant Butte fire started in Evergreen, Colorado on July 13th. It went to 50 acres and caused around 1000 people to be evacuated. Air support was called in with both air tankers and helicopters. The JeffCo IMT was called in shortly after and took command of the fire late in the day. The Incident Command Post (ICP) was located at the Hiwan Museum on Meadow Dr in Evergreen. The team managed the fire until Thursday the 16th when hard work and rain facilitated turning it back to a Type 4 incident with Evergreen Fire taking command.
